We are pleased to welcome Hayley Cumiskey, Anny Kim and Harveer Garcha to Watson Goepel LLP as our 2026–2027 Articling Students. All three bring energy, community spirit, and a genuine dedication to our clients.

Hayley Cumiskey
Hayley obtained her Juris Doctor with Distinction from Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, where she received the Griffith Law School Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence, recognizing the five highest-achieving J.D. students in 2023. During law school, Hayley gained hands-on experience through Griffith University’s Innocence Project, where she assisted in drafting a Pardon Application to the Governor of Queensland.
Before law school, Hayley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University. Prior to entering the legal profession, she worked in hospitality and coached softball, building a strong foundation in teamwork, leadership, and client relations.

Anny Kim
Having grown up in the Lower Mainland, Anny earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University before obtaining her Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law. Along the way, she built a diverse foundation in legal research and advocacy.
She worked as a legal administrative assistant for four years, co-authored two published research studies on sexual homicide, and served as a Research Assistant at UVic Law assisting with updates to Remedies: The Law of Damages. She also supported defence counsel in a criminal sexual assault trial and worked as a legal advocate helping tenants navigate residential tenancy issues.

Harveer Garcha
Harveer completed her Juris Doctor at Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law, where she immersed herself in community and student leadership, serving as Executive Editor for the TRU Law Review, Co-President of the TRU Society of Law Students, and as a Research Assistant. Her academic contributions include co-authoring Gatekeepers to Diversity in the Legal Profession for the FACL BC Journal in 2025.
Harveer holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University. As an articling student, she looks forward to developing her legal skills, contributing to client work, and learning from the lawyers and staff across the firm.
