Micah Goldberg

Micah Goldberg* is a Partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group at Watson Goepel. He maintains a commercial litigation practice with a particular focus involving property and commercial litigation. Micah’s property practice involves co-ownership disputes brought pursuant to the Partition of Property Act in which his published decisions are frequently cited as leading precedent in the legal area. His commercial litigation practice involves contractual disputes including partnership and shareholder disputes, debt recovery and wrongful termination actions.

Micah has appeared as lead counsel in matters before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and British Columbia Court of Appeal, and represented clients in arbitrations and various administrative tribunals and hearings.

  • Provided assistance and advice to public and private companies, options-holders, shareholders and other individuals regarding the overall validity and enforceability of corporate contracts.
  • Assisted public companies through the Plan of Arrangement process, including speaking to initial and final orders, assisting in the organization process of special meetings, the drafting and review of meeting materials, information circulars and court orders.
  • Registered and enforced American, German and Chinese judgments in British Columbia.

  • Commenced proceedings and secured orders to compel the sale of co-owned property pursuant to the Partition of Property Act.
  • Advanced and defended applications to remove and preserve certificates of pending litigation on title to residential and commercial properties.
  • Successfully resisted an appeal concerning a property governed by a joint venture agreement in which the purchase price was confirmed at $0.
• Shareholder Disputes and Employment Litigation
  • Negotiated and resolved several wrongful termination actions and allegations acting as employer, contractor and employee counsel on behalf of private and public companies.
  • Litigated and resolved disputes between shareholders, partners, and joint venturers with and without governing documents.
  • Provided comprehensive employment opinions to employers, which advance legal opinion on whether and how an employee may be terminated and whether employment benefits including stock options are payable.
