European Trade Policies and Seafood Business Opportunities

The talk dealt with “European Trade Policies and Seafood Business Opportunities” on the new market potential created for BC shellfish producers by the Comprehensive Economic & Trade Agreement (“ CETA”) negotiated between Canada and the European Union.

This past weekend Watson Goepel Lawyer, Celso A. A. Boscariol spoke at the BC Shellfish & Seafood Expo in Comox Valley. The talk dealt with “European Trade Policies and Seafood Business Opportunities” on the new market potential created for BC shellfish producers by the Comprehensive Economic & Trade Agreement (“ CETA”) negotiated between Canada and the European Union.

In addition or removal of relatively high tariffs on shellfish and other seafood products, CETA will also remove non-tariff barriers and ease regulatory policies to enhance the potential for technology transfers and aquaculture research between Canadian and European producers and importers. Celso spoke both in his capacity as a lawyer well-versed in CETA and as president of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Canada West.
