Jon Lazar, Laurence Klass and Craig Neville spent a dynamic hour and a half providing insight into how the new Family Law Act differs from the current Family Relations Act and what that will mean, practically speaking, for those in the midst of, or contemplating, family law challenges. Individuals and couples came with questions for themselves, friends and family. The team of three addressed questions from participants on a wide range of family law issues: from new common-law rights and obligations regarding child mobility issues. The Court’s stated purposes for the significant changes are: better protection of children going through family separation, clarification of parental responsibilities, and the division of assets in family breakdown. The new law also addresses family violence and encourages families toward out-of-Court dispute resolution.

The event was a response to various requests from, our clients, who reside on the North Shore. We were pleased to be able to provide a response.
