This past weekend Watson Goepel Lawyer, Celso A. A. Boscariol spoke at the BC Shellfish & Seafood Expo in Comox Valley.  The talk dealt with “European Trade Policies and Seafood Business Opportunities” on the new market potential created for BC shellfish producers by the Comprehensive Economic & Trade Agreement (“ CETA”) negotiated between Canada and the European Union.

In addition or removal of relatively high tariffs on shellfish and other seafood products, CETA will also remove non-tariff barriers and ease regulatory policies to enhance the potential for technology transfers and aquaculture research between Canadian and European producers and importers. Celso spoke both in his capacity as a lawyer well-versed in CETA and as president of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Canada West.
