Child Support

The Federal Child Support Guidelines establishes the amount of support payable in each province according to the income level of the payor party. If parenting is shared, then support is based on a set-off with the higher income earner paying the difference in the table amount to the lower income earner.

Tailored guidance in navigating child support.

While child support covers essential needs like food, clothing, and shelter, additional expenses such as childcare, medical/dental costs, extracurricular activities, and education expenses are typically shared proportionately to parental income, often referred to as “special and extraordinary” expenses under section 7 of the Guidelines.
